Draya Michele was slammed for promoting a $600 air purifier on Instagram during the Los Angeles wildfires.
The “Basketball Wives” alum took to Instagram Friday to share a video of herself ᴀssembling a Sereniby air purifier, which currently retails online for $629, while her 8-year-old son, Jru, played in the background.
“While the unimaginable is happening with the fires in LA… air quality is so poor, toxic even,” she captioned the post.
“I’m using the @sereniby_official air purifier to ensure that my kids and pets are breathing in fresh, double filtered air,” the mom of three added.
Michele said the brand was offering a $200 discount to anyone who purchased the item through the link in her bio.
“There’s no price on peace of mind but having it is more valuable than most worldly things. #prayforla #airquality #airpurifier,” she concluded her caption.
Though the former reality star, 39, disabled comments on the post, fans took to X to share their thoughts on her video.
“Draya using the LA fires to promote an air purifier on her Instagram. Like she never does anything right. Tone deaf af,” wrote one fan, who has since locked their account.
“Soooo ain’t nothing wrong with Draya promoting an air purifier that [costs] at least 400, while ppl homes are on fire?? Tha [sic] purifier isn’t the problem, it’s the price that is,” another user commented.
“Draya said, ‘I know you seen those fires. Get you an air purifier so you don’t have to smell their burnt houses,’” a sarcastic viewer wrote.
“Draya has always been an attractive idiot. Body is out of this world, but that brain takes naps 22 hours a day,” a fourth netizen quipped.
Michele, born Andraya Howard, also received some support from some fans who believed her promotional video was needed at such a devastating time in California.
“Idk, Draya posting about an air purifier doesn’t seem wrong or ‘tone def [sic].’ Yall just hate that girl and everything she does for some odd reason,” one supporter wrote on X.
“Honestly, I have been looking up air purifiers and haven’t purchased one yet because of the prices. Why is Draya wrong for promoting a brand that is offering a discount during this time so people can purify the air in their homes?!” another added.
Page Six has reached out to a rep for Michele but did not immediately hear back.
A spokesperson for Sereniby, meanwhile, told People that the Mint Swim founder was “not compensated for her post” and had reached out to the company “because she genuinely uses the product and believed it could help others dealing with the severe air quality in Los Angeles.”
Last week, Michele faced backlash for taking her 22-year-old son, Kniko, to watch her 22-year-old boyfriend, NBA star Jalen Green, play basketball.
She and the Houston Rockets star welcomed a baby girl in May 2024.
