As Nia Jax made her way to the ring on SmackDown, fans saw the screen go black for no apparent reason. The screen also stayed black for longer than they thought until eventually the feed came back. This was not the only time there was such an issue during the show, as on several other occasions the FOX feed appeared to be censored and the sound was also muted.
According to a report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this is due to the fact that FOX has made a change where they have decided to crack down on anything that is deemed offensive. This includes fan chants and that is why the audio was muted multiple times and the screen was also blacked out. However, the reason why it was blacked out during Nia Jax’s segment was because a fan was on screen and was seen making an obscene gesture towards her.
With the changes coming to WWE, SmackDown will soon be leaving FOX and returning to USA Network to begin its new deal. It remains to be seen if USA Network will also follow the same policies.
It seems that Jax has a new friend in WWE and that was evident on last week’s episode of SmackDown.
