Brazilian actress Fernanda Torres made history at the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards by winning Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for her role in “I’m Still Here.”
In her acceptance speech, Torres, 59, expressed surprise and dedicated the award to her mother, Fernanda Montenegro, who was nominated for a Golden Globe 25 years ago.
She emphasized that “art can endure” through challenging times, referencing the film’s focus on survival during Brazil’s 1971 military dictatorship.
“I’m Still Here,” directed by Walter Moreira Salles Júnior, has been praised for its portrayal of resilience during a tumultuous period in Brazil’s history. Torres’ performance was lauded for its depth and authenticity, contributing to the film’s critical acclaim.
