Shakira showed off her incredible flexibility as she rehearsed for her performance at next week’s MTV VMAs – where she will be honoured with the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award. 

The Columbian songstress, 46, shared a slew of behind the scenes snaps to her Instagram including one where she posed with her legs behind her head.

Shakira slipped into skin-тιԍнт black work out gear, along with with knee pads, for the session as she practiced her moves in a large dance studio.

The Hips Don’t Lie hitmaker could be seen writhing on the floor in numerous positions before grabbing a silver guitar and taking to the mic.

She captioned the post: ‘Guess which song this pose is from? Can’t wait for Tuesday!’.

As well as performing at the show and is up for four Moon Person trophies: Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration for TQG with Karol G as well as Best Latin song for both TQG and Acróstico.

The 2023 VMAs will air live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on September 12.

‘Shakira is a true global force who continues to inspire and influence the mᴀsses with her unique, musical prowess,’ Bruce Gilmer, Paramount’s present of music said in a press release.

‘She’s a trailblazer for women around the world and one of the first artists to lead the globalization of Latin music,’ he continued.

‘Her mᴀssive impact across the musical landscape will be long lasting as she continues to create and entertain at the highest level,’ he concluded.

Shakira burst onto the music scene in the early 1990s and has released a string of hit – and electric music videos over the years including Hips Don’t Lie, Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), Chantajem La Bicicleta, La La La (Brazil 2014) and Pero Fiel, which all have more than a billion views on YouTube.

Shakira is the first South American artist to take home the Video Vanguard Award.

The Whenever, Wherever singer won her first VMA for Oios Asi in the category of International Viewer’s Choice.

Shakira took home her third Moon Person trophy for Best Choreography for the Hips Don’t Lie video in 2006.

She won her most recent VMA  in 2007 for her collaboration with Beyoncé on Beautiful Liar.

Also performing at the VMAs is Demi Lovato, Karol G, Måneskin and Stray Kids.

Taylor Swift leads the nominations with eight for Best Video, Song of the Year, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Visual Effects and Best Editing for Anti-Hero, as well as Artist of the Year.

SZA closely follows Swift with six nominations while Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo and Sam Smith all have five each, and BLACKPINK, Diddy and Shakira each have four nominations.

This year’s list of nominees also sets the record for the most first-time nominees.

Ice Spice, GloRIlla, Petras and boygenius are among the whopping 35 newcomers.
